The copper and matrix discs work together to discourage the roots from growing through them. By placing one in the bottom of the pot and the other underneath the base of the pot they control the growth.

These come in a pack of 8 meaning you get 8 of the copper and 8 of the matrix. You need 1 copper and 1 matrix for each pot.
